We are committed to building a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion not only within AIR, but also in the broader behavioral and social science research sector. Central to that objective is guiding and mentoring the next generation of research and technical assistance professionals.

The Pipeline Partnership Program, launched in 2020, is AIR’s joint venture with Georgia State University in Atlanta; Howard University in Washington, D.C.; and the University of Texas at San Antonio. It serves as a platform for engagement with graduate students and faculty and for cultivation of a more diverse group of research and technical assistance experts within and beyond our organization.

As part of the program, AIR experts and AIR Institute Fellows provide education and training in the range of expertise required to sustain best practices in conducting behavior and social science research. Participants benefit from mentoring, networking, internship, and career advancement opportunities, and AIR staff share in those benefits by expanding and diversifying their own professional networks. The result: Emerging and next-generation professionals approach their careers in behavioral and social science fields with greater cultural competence and a stronger capacity for succeeding in enriched research pursuits.
