Cheryl Krohn

Cheryl Krohn is a senior technical assistance consultant for AIR with more than 16 years of experience developing and leading trainings, professional development, and coaching opportunities in K-12 education. She serves as a senior advisor supporting AIR’s Center on Great Teachers and Leaders, providing coaching to the center’s national collaborative on accelerating data-driven policy and practice to address educator shortages and diversity. Krohn is facilitating mentoring and induction trainings with PREL and leading a community of practice focused on teacher diversity and culturally competent practices for teacher well-being and retention with Region I Equity Assistance Center.

Her deep understanding of state education agencies (SEAs) stems from her eight years working at the Ohio Department of Education (ODE), focused on federal and state educator workforce initiatives and grants. At ODE, Krohn led efforts in equity, equitable access to excellent educators, diversifying the teacher workforce, educator workforce projects, and a Teacher Incentive Fund (TIF) grant. Krohn successfully developed and implemented multiple educator workforce policies and practices in Ohio by building strong relationships with state, local, higher education staff and community leaders while frequently engaging stakeholders to inform policy efforts.

In North Carolina, Krohn worked for two years on a grant project using state longitudinal education data (birth to career) to inform research and policy alongside state agencies and partners. Krohn’s policy expertise is also crucially informed by her twelve years in the field as an elementary teacher, principal, and teacher preparation instructor.
