Emily Elstad
Emily Elstad has more than ten years of experience in health behavior and health services research. At AIR, Dr. Elstad contributes to projects related to engaging consumers in health care and policy; developing and testing materials for public reporting of quality measures, cost, and resource use; and health reform.
Dr. Elstad’s research focuses on understanding and optimizing patient and provider decision making and health services for chronic disease prevention and management. Her research has addressed medical decision making, communication, and information-seeking for cancer screening, diabetes management, arthritis and urinary diseases. Dr. Elstad has expertise in conducting formative research, primary and secondary data collection, and survey development and administration. Dr. Elstad has significant qualitative data analysis experience, including conducting focus groups, in-depth interviews, and cognitive interviewing. She is also skilled in quantitative data analysis including factor analysis, regression analysis and multi-level modeling.
Dr. Elstad has authored over a dozen peer-reviewed publications. She has also conducted several professional presentations and authored numerous technical reports. She has managed both small- and large-scale projects and tasks for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Colorado Health Foundation, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, and the National Institutes for Health.
