Jaleh Soroui

Jaleh Behroozi Soroui is the director of the Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) at AIR. She directs PIAAC team at AIR in providing expertise, technical assistance, and management support for the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) of the U.S. Department of Education in the development of the PIAAC study and related reports, as well as the dissemination of results. Combining her expertise in educational technology and adult literacy, she has provided support in the development of computer-based items and has established a broad network for the dissemination of PIAAC products. From 2004 to 2008, she provided technical expertise and support for the NCES’s National Assessment of Adult Literacy (NAAL) study.

Before joining AIR, Soroui was a senior staff member at the National Institute for Literacy (NIFL), a U.S. government organization, where she initiated and directed LINCS, a national online educational and information retrieval system for the adult education and literacy field.
