Jason Katz

Senior Researcher

Jason Katz is a senior researcher at AIR and serves as a deputy director for a pilot project conducted by AIR’s Quality Initiative. He has expertise in implementation science, program evaluation, and continuous quality improvement.

Dr. Katz leads and co-leads many qualitative data collection activities. He is currently the qualitative lead for the evaluation of a youth mentoring project based in New York City. In addition, Dr. Katz interviews community-based stakeholders throughout the U.S. on a variety of health and education topics and uses this information to develop case study reports on a website that AIR maintains on behalf of a federal client.

Prior to coming to AIR, Dr. Katz managed evaluation activities for a SAMHSA Child and Family Mental Health State Infrastructure grant.  He was also part of a research team at the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Mental Health Policy and Services Research, examining racial and ethnic disparities in Philadelphia’s Behavioral Health System. Katz also coordinated a study conducted at the VA, in association with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services to develop revised behavioral health items for a national nursing home assessment instrument.
