The Literacy Information and Communication System (LINCS)

The Literacy Information and Communication System (LINCS) is a national leadership initiative of the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education to expand evidence-based practice in the field of adult education. The core work of LINCS is delivering high-quality, evidence-based resources, on-demand educational opportunities to practitioners of adult education, so those practitioners can help adult learners successfully transition to postsecondary education and 21st century jobs.

States need innovative ideas and a deeper level of support to meet new challenges, this project includes both technical assistance and resource curation.

The LINCS project includes the following activities that AIR is responsible for leading:

• Providing state capacity building through training and technical assistance;
• Identifying and curating educational tools and materials for the LINCS Resource Collection;
• Developing online resources and courses for training and professional development; and
• Conducting virtual communities of practice to engage adult educators in professional development and generate ongoing feedback.
