Michaela Gulemetova

Senior Economist

Michaela Gulemetova is a senior economist at AIR who specializes in methods for program evaluation in education research. With over 15 years of professional experience, Dr. Gulemetova possesses a wealth of expertise and deep knowledge of education evaluation studies. She has often served as principal investigator and senior technical lead on performance and impact evaluations. In these roles, Dr. Gulemetova has managed and overseen evaluation designs, built and maintained relationships with stakeholders, guided data collection and analysis, prepared reports for funders, and provided quality assurance of the work produced by evaluation teams.

Methodologically, Dr. Gulemetova expertise covers both advanced econometrics methods for analyzing longitudinal data and as well as mixed methods. She has applied her analytic skills in designing both experimental and quasi-experimental impact evaluations. Dr. Gulemetova has led education evaluations on topics including STEM programs, literacy programs, summer out-of-school programs for minority students, girls’ education programs, teacher professional development programs, social-emotional and affective skills of students among others. In her projects, Dr. Gulemetova has cumulated extensive expertise in designing survey instruments; conducting pilot tests and cognitive interviews with respondents; writing interview protocols; conducting interviews; training enumerators and overseeing field data collection; conducting analysis and writing reports and manuscripts for publication.
