Mona Kilany

Mona Kilany is a senior health care policy researcher in AIR’s Effective, Efficient, and Patient-Centered Health Care practice area. Her primary research interests in Medicaid policy issues and models of care coordination for low-income people with chronic health conditions. Dr. Kilany designs, develops, and conducts studies involving qualitative, quantitative, and mixed research methods, including quantitative analyses of longitudinal surveys, cognitive interviews and protocols. Content area specialties include health services related to care coordination, disability, and mental health.

Dr. Kilany has extensive quantitative experience primarily using Medicaid claims data, including linear, non-linear regression modelling and propensity score methods and programming in Stata and SAS. She also has qualitative data analysis research experience that includes conducting focus groups and semi-structured interviews and analysis. Dr. Kilany contributes substantively as a content expert to proposal writing efforts.

Dr. Kilany’s previous research has addressed the models of care coordination such as the patient-centered medical home and integration of mental health and primary care. Dr. Kilany’s patient-centered medical home research studied the primary care setting and federally qualified health centers using Medicaid claims data. Dr. Kilany’s research has targeted people with mental health and chronic conditions and people with disabilities. Dr. Kilany has also conducted program evaluations, presented professional meetings, and authored peer-reviewed articles.
