Operations Support for the Federal Health Insurance Marketplace
The Affordable Care Act established health insurance marketplaces where millions of consumers can sign up for health plans. AIR provides technical, analytical, policy, and operational support to the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) Marketplace Plan Management Group (MPMG) to:
- Support the evaluation, review, and maintenance of qualified health plans (QHP) to be certified for participation on HealthCare.gov, the Federal Health Insurance Exchange;
- Help states and issuers successfully complete the QHP certification process; and
- Research and operationalize new regulatory requirements.
The contract spans more than 30 subtasks and includes conducting certification reviews, providing meeting support, providing technical assistance, and assisting with stakeholder outreach and engagement to enable transparency and informed policy development.
AIR conducts policy analysis and environmental scans, analyzes data, and provides technical assistance to issuers and states, in addition to supporting MPMG’s coordination efforts. MPMG is continuously identifying new ways the marketplaces can support CCIIO’s commitment to advancing health equity and AIR is proud to support in these efforts.
