Sarah Mossburg

Sarah Mossburg, a senior researcher in the Health Division at AIR, has more than 20 years of experience working in health care delivery and research. At AIR, Dr. Mossburg is responsible for designing research studies; conducting literature reviews; collecting data via interviews, surveys, direct observation, and medical records; analyzing the results of quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods research; writing plain language translations of scientific studies; managing and leading project tasks and budgets; and contributing to reports and proposals. Her work has focused on increasing access to health care treatment, primarily among people with opioid use disorder, and translation of evidence into practice. She serves as co-editor-in-chief of PSNet, a national, curated, web-based resource from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality that features the latest news and essential resources on patient safety.

Prior to joining AIR, in her work in hospital settings, Dr. Mossburg was part of leadership teams implementing patient safety initiatives at the bedside, including deployment of rapid response teams, implementing the 100,000 and 5 Million Lives campaigns, and numerous projects aimed at reducing hospital-acquired infections, improving hand-off communication, and other patient-safety programs.
