Strengthening At Risk and Homeless Young Mothers and Children
To address the complex needs of at-risk and homeless families, the Strengthening At Risk and Homeless Young Mothers and Children initiative was funded by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and local funders from 2007-2011. The Initiative sought to improve the housing, health, and development of homeless and at-risk mothers and children by supporting locally-based partnerships that included housing/homelessness and child development agencies, as well as those that address family preservation, domestic violence, mental health, substance use and other support services for the target population. The Initiative's desired impacts were not limited to clients alone; it also aimed to integrate systems and disseminate knowledge in order to improve services for families not directly enrolled in its programs.
Evaluation Documents │Publications and Reports
The initiative was coordinated by the National Center on Family Homelessness in partnership with the National Alliance to End Homelessness and ZERO TO THREE: National Center for Infants, Toddlers, and Families.
Evaluation of the Initiative
The evaluation of the Initiative included three components: an outcome evaluation to examine client well-being, a process evaluation to document implementation of the project, and a cost study.
