Tamika Cowans

Tamika Cowans is a researcher at AIR. She has over seven years of experience providing research, project management, and administrative support for projects pertaining to survey development, patient experiences of care, and chronic diseases. She has experience in qualitative data collection and analysis including conducting focus groups, environmental scans, interviews, and usability testing. Cowans also has extensive experience with proposal management and has coordinated numerous complex and high value proposal efforts.

Cowans led the environmental scan task for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Formative Research to Support the Development of Sickle Cell Disease Educational Messages project. She has also led message testing efforts for materials developed by the Agency for Toxic Substance and Disease Registry, in which she conducted and analyzed key informant interviews and online focus groups. Cowans also has experience with survey instrument development including item development, item review, and cognitive testing for survey instruments through her work as a project coordinator for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s Consumer Assessments of Healthcare Providers and Systems for Cancer Care project and as a research associate for the National Patient Advocate Foundation’s Creating a Consumer-Based Cancer Care Value Index project.
