Thiyagu Rajakannan

Dr. Rajakannan is a senior researcher and Lead for Drug Coverage and Payment Practice at the Health Division at AIR. He has more than 19 years of Clinical Pharmacy and experience in designing and conducting both quantitative and qualitative analyses for health policy, technological, pharmacoepidemiology, and clinical research using large administrative claim databases, clinical trial registries, electronic medical records, and healthcare survey data. Dr. Rajakannan has experience at the cutting edge of digital healthcare equity. Primary responsibilities include serving as a clinical subject matter expert across a diverse array of federal and state government clients with experience in policy analysis, technical evaluation, implementation, and enforcement.

Dr. Rajakannan serves as a subject matter expert for two digital healthcare tools being developed by CMS. He is involved in Medicare Drug Pricing web tool development, using various drug information and CMS data sources. Serving as SME/Lead for CMS-Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight for Policy and Data Review Analysis, Clinical Appropriateness, Formulary Coverage, Treatment Protocol Calculator and Marketplace analysis of qualified health plans.

Prior to joining IMPAQ, Dr. Rajakannan was a research rellow at ClinicalTrials.gov, NIH and led research projects, policy development, and information updates on clinical trials protocol registration and results system and evaluated laws and policies related to clinical trial registration and results reporting in ClinicalTrials.gov. Dr. Rajakannan has skills in health policy, health outcomes, and technical evaluations, drug pricing, pharmacoepidemiology, post-marketing surveillance, clinical pharmacology and is proficient in project management.
