Xiaying James Zheng

Senior Researcher

Xiaying James Zheng is a senior researcher at AIR, where he conducts statistical and psychometric analyses and provides technical supports for various National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) projects. Dr. Zheng has in-depth knowledge in item response theory (IRT) methodology, latent growth modeling, latent class analysis, analysis of process data, longitudinal analysis, multilevel modeling, multiple imputations, synthetic data, and analysis of complex sample data. Dr. Zheng has extensive experience writing research proposals and presenting for academic conference, including annual meetings for American Educational Research Association, National Council for Measurement in Education, and the Psychometric Society. 

During his doctoral studies, Dr. Zheng worked for Maryland Longitudinal Data System Center as a research assistant, focusing on synthetic longitudinal data. Prior to his doctoral training, Dr. Zheng worked as a program manager at the Office of China Affairs at University of Maryland, College Park.
