President's Message on Diversity and Inclusion

A Message from AIR President and CEO David Myers:

Image of David MyersAs a mission-driven organization dedicated to providing the best behavioral and social science research, we know that our human capital is our greatest asset and the key to our success. Along with our intellectual diversity, the differing life experiences and approaches we bring to our work help us understand our clients and meet their needs and the needs of our work’s ultimate beneficiaries. With diversity as a priority, we can achieve our mission.

If we look to the future of our nation and work on behalf of those who occupy the largest educational, social and health systems in the United States and abroad, then addressing diversity and inclusion is not a choice. It’s an imperative. Diversity and inclusion are mission critical.

Our diversity and inclusion (D&I) journey began many years ago. We have built on the earlier work by AIR’s volunteers and invested significantly in developing a comprehensive, strategic approach. We have applied proven practices from the field.

So far we’ve learned that diversity and inclusion aren’t destinations so much as organizational and personal commitments to creating new pathways on a shared and rewarding journey. We are proud of how far we have come but also open to challenges still unmet.  We continue taking stock of the opportunities presented in the latest phase of our D&I journey and to reflect on how we can integrate diversity and inclusion into our operations and everyday interactions.

For us, making the world a better place is not wishful thinking. With Diversity and Inclusion as a priority, we can achieve our mission.
